Litigation Background

Mr. Maraynes is a civil defense attorney whose practice focuses on the defense of medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury claims. As lead counsel, Mr. Maraynes has tried over 40 cases to resolution, including cases involving wrongful death, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, New York Labor Law, and premises liability.

Mr. Maraynes has obtained defense verdicts on behalf of obstetricians, ophthalmologists, anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons, and internal medicine providers, as well as academic medical centers and businesses. Mr. Maraynes possesses extensive experience in the cross-examination of medical experts, engineers, economists, and life care planners. He has tried cases in all five boroughs of New York City, as well as its surrounding counties.

Mr. Maraynes is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is board-certified by the National Board of Trial Advocates. Since 2025, he has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America. He serves as a faculty member at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law’s Intensive Trial Advocacy Program.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Maraynes served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County for over five years, where he handled a wide range of violent crimes, including homicides.
